SMCM Men’s Swimming Sets Five Records as Atlantic East Championships Continue

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming continued their strong showing at the 2026 Atlantic East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships Friday (Feb. 13). St. Mary's College set two conference records, two meet records, and one school record at its home pool in the Aquatics Center at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center.
 
500 Freestyle
The meet began with the 500-freestyle where sophomore Harrison Greenwald (Eldersburg, Md./Century) defended his title, capturing the event with a conference and meet record of 4:40.66. Greenwald surpassed his own conference and meet record (4:41.20) from last year by 0.54 seconds. He also narrowly missed eclipsing the school record of 4:39.75 set by Andrew Scott in 2018.
 
First-year Seth Geasey (Myersville, Md./Middletown) finished sixth in 4:49.72 while first-year Harry Brooks (Centreville, Va./Westfield) edged fellow teammate, sophomore Stephen Lepine (Rockville, Md./GWU Online), by 0.30 seconds for seventh place in 5:00.54. Lepine placed eighth in 5:00.84.
 
First-year Alex Myers (La Plata, Md./La Plata) captured the consolation final in 5:11.09 for ninth overall.
 
200 Individual Medley
First-year Brendan Mannion (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) started the day strong with a school, conference, and meet record in the preliminaries of the 200-individual medley. Mannion earned the top seed in the finals after posting a 1:55.09, surpassing the Atlantic East and meet record of 1:55.12 from last year by Marymount University's Ryan Faherty.
 
Mannion's time also broke the school record of 1:55.25 set by Cameron Hedquist '13 at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 17, 2012.
 
Junior Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) was the next to score for St. Mary's College in the 200 IM as Madigan went 1:58.01 for sixth place while junior Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton) took eighth in 2:03.13.
 
First-year Kellen Pumphrey (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) claimed the top spot in the consolation finals in 2:11.23 for ninth overall while junior Jake Williams (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) placed 11th in 2:32.79.
 
50 Freestyle
Senior captain Will Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) led the Seahawks in the 50-freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 21.58 while junior Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) came in fifth in 21.70. Junior CB Jurado (Odenton, Md./Arundel) was sixth in 22.55 followed by junior Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) in seventh in 22.70.
 
Senior captain Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) won the consolation final in 23.30 for ninth place.
 
200 Freestyle Relay
The foursome of Greenwald, Smith, Davis, and Kendrick wrapped the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:26.55.
 
Inside the Meet
Twelve (12) of the 16 Seahawks who competed today either in the preliminaries and/or the finals went lifetime bests. Additionally, 11 SMCM swimmers reached the podium, including finishing the second night of championship competition with one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
 
St. Mary's College increased its point total to 285 to remain in second place, 16 points out of the top spot. Marymount, the three-time defending Atlantic East Champions, stays in first place with 301 points while Marywood University holds onto third with 126 points. Rounding out the top five are Immaculata University (91) and Gallaudet University (9).
