St. Mary’s College Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team Finishes Third at Seahawk Invitational

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's outdoor track & field team placed third in the six-team field with 71.5 points at the Third Annual Seahawk Invitational at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium on Saturday (Mar. 30).
 
Five St. Mary's College records were set while the Seahawks achieved an impressive 24 personal records.
 
Division II Bowie State University took top honors at the Seahawk Invitational with 103 points while fellow United East Conference member, Gallaudet University, came in second with 84 points.
 
How It Happened
  • First-year Ty Tindal (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Saints Classical) captured the 400m dash with a school record and personal best time of 49.79, knocking off the three-year old mark of 50.13 set by Avery Arizpe '24 on May 1, 2021.
  • First-year Collin Fitzgerald (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) placed third in the 400m dash with a personal record of 50.54 while first-year Mason Layne (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) came in sixth with a personal record of 52.70.
  • Junior Zane Obi (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard) rounded out the top-8 finishers with a seventh-place finish, clocking a season-best time of 53.29.
 
  • Senior Quentin Pastore (Towson, Md./Towson) won the 1500m run with a season-best time of 4:20.85.
 
  • Sophomore Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) captured the javelin throw with a school record and personal-best throw of 44.67m, breaking his own record of 36.27m from two weeks ago. Kralec also tallied a personal record of 32.70m for eighth in the discus throw.
 
  • First-year Aaron Morales (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) picked up a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a personal record of 18.51. Morales also added a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:02.56.
 
  • Sophomore captain Kelly Byrne (Rockville, Md./Rockville) collected a second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a school record and personal-best time of 10:40.13, shattering the old mark of 11:51.04 set by Patton Harbourt '25 on April 23, 2022.
  • Junior captain Nate Norris (Owings, Md./Northern) notched a third-place finish with a personal record of 11:42.28 while first-year Noah Fisher (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) took fourth with a PR of 11:48.47.
 
  • The foursome of Fitzgerald, Tindal, Layne, and senior Emmanuel Douge (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) posted a school record of 42.26 in the 4x100m relay to go second in the race. They displaced the old mark of 42.97 from two weeks ago.
  • The same foursome in different order – Fitzgerald, Layne, Douge, Tindal – notched a second-place finish in the 4x400m relay as well in 3:31.36.
 
  • Kralec tallied a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.00m while Fisher finished fourth with 2.60m.
 
  • First-year Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) led the Seahawks in the 800m run with a third-place finish with a PR of 2:03.76 while first-year Markell Blake (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Saints Classical) came in sixth with a personal record of 2:16.33.
 
  • Fitzgerald claimed a fourth-place finish in the 200m dash with a PR of 22.34 while Douge tied for sixth with a season-best time of 22.75.
 
  • Sophomore Doel Nkalo (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) earned a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 25.15m while taking 10th in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 8.40m.
 
  • Tindal set the school record in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 6.39m, besting the previous mark of 5.72m set by Amaun Hill '24 last year.
  • First-year Bryson Brown (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) notched a personal record of 5.76m to finish 11th.
 
  • Sophomore Jaedon Aso (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) was the Seahawks' top finisher in the 100m with a 14th-place finish in 12.16.
