SMCM Men’s Lacrosse Lands Three on USILA All-America Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team garnered three selections to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Teams as announced by the USILA Thursday morning (May 23).
 
For the second consecutive season, senior Ethan Little (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and juniors Quinnten Hatfield (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) picked Honorable Mention accolades.
 
"What a tremendous honor to be named as an All-American. There is so much effort and work that goes into something like this," ninth-year Head Coach Jason Childs said.
 
This brings the number of All-America plaudits gained by the St. Mary's College men's lacrosse program to 24 while tying a program-best three selections from 2006 and 2023.
 
Little wraps up his Seahawk career as a two-time Honorable Mention USILA All-American, a back-to-back United East Conference Defensive Player of the Year (2023 and 2024), and a three-time consecutive All-United East selection, making the First Team in 2022 and 2024.
 
A three-time United East Defensive Player of the Week this season, the 6-0 defenseman also twice earned a spot on the USILA Division III Team of the Week. He contributed team second-bests of 59 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. Little ranked fifth in the United East in caused turnovers. He remained a threat offensively as well, chipping in four goals and five assists.
 
Hatfield is now a two-time All-United East selection after earning First Team honors in 2023 and gaining a Second Team spot this season. The 6-4 short-stick midfielder chipped in a team third-best 51 ground balls as well as a team fourth-best 12 caused turnovers. Additionally, he found the back of the net a career-best seven times and added one assist.
 
Preis, a 6-0 attackman, is also a two-time All-United East selection with a First Team nod in 2023 and a Second Team placement in 2024. He led the conference with 59 assists and contributed 17 goals for a league-leading 76 points during his junior campaign. The 2023 United East Offensive Player of the Year, Preis ranks 14th in Division III with a conference-best 2.81 assists per game.
 
St. Mary's College (14-7) made its second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament this season, advancing to the second round for the second season in a row. The Seahawks also captured their third consecutive United East Tournament championship title and second straight conference regular-season crown.
