Miller Clocks Two B Cuts as Seahawks Women’s Swimming Remains First at AECs

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) put up two NCAA B cuts in the 100-butterfly Saturday (Feb. 15) during the second day of the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Swimming Championships. Champions for the 400-individual medley, 100-butterfly, the 200-freestyle, the 100-breaststroke, the 100-backstroke, and the 400-medley relay were crowned tonight.
 
St. Mary's College continued to distance itself from the competition, claiming three events to boast 568 points and hold on to the No. 1 spot in the six-team field. Marymount (Va.) University, the two-time defending champion, is second with 395 points. Rounding out the top-six are Marywood University (325), Immaculata University (283), Gallaudet University (153), and Cedar Crest College (142).
 
The Seahawks are hoping to notch their third Atlantic East crown after winning back-to-back league championship titles in 2021 and 2022.
 
Miller captured her second straight Atlantic East title in the 100-butterfly with a B cut of 55.22. She knocked off 0.24 seconds from her morning preliminary time of 55.46, a B cut as well.
 
Junior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) earned a gold medal in the 400-individual medley, touching the wall in 4:50.45. Sophomore Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) collected SMCM's third gold medal of the night with a 1:01.11 in the 100-backstroke.
 
Young, Judge, Miller, and first-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) took second in the 400-medley relay in 4:02.22.
 
Willey notched a second silver medal with her second-place finish in the 200-freestyle in 1:59.92 while first-year Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) stood on the podium in second place in 2:05.46. First-year Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) took sixth in 2:05.93 while senior captain Emelina Grimm (Rockville, Md./Magruder) won the consolation final in 2:17.50 for ninth overall.
 
First-year Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) picked up a bronze medal in the 400-individual medley in 5:08.81 while first-year Abby Chappell (Waynesboro, Pa./St. Maria Goretti Catholic) reached podium in eighth-place in 6:34.84.
 
First-year Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) tallied a fourth-place finish in the 100-butterfly in 1:03.38 while sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) took seventh in 1:04.68.
 
Soldon notched a fourth-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 1:06.46 while first-year Elly Bauer (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) came in seventh in 1:09.97 and first-year Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) was eighth in 1:10.01.
 
Malzahn paced St. Mary's College in the 100-breaststroke with a fifth-place finish in 1:13.88 while junior Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) came in sixth in 1:16.42. First-year Natalie Canham (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) reached the podium for a second straight night with a seventh-place finish in 1:16.70 while junior Bella Ramirez (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) took eighth in 1:17.13.
