Men's Indoor Track & Field Earn United East Championship Title

Landover, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track and field team travelled up the road to Landover, Md. for the United East Conference Indoor Championships. The Seahawks took home the 1st place finish for the first Championship Title in team history. The Seahawks competed against four other institutions with a total of 181 points, earning points in 13 out of 16 events.
 
How It Happened:
  • Four Seahawks competed in the 60 meter prelims, with all four earning spots in the 60 meter finals, led by Collin Fitzgerald in 2nd. Nick Haylock, Aaron Morales, and Jaedon Aso all earned personal records in the prelims.
  • The 60 meter dash finals were led by Collin Fitzgerald in 1st place in 7.02, meeting the qualifying standard for AARTFC. Nick Haylock took 2nd with a new personal best of 7.11. Jaedon Aso and Aaron Morales earned 6th in 7.54 and 7th in 7.65 respectively.  Both Aso and Morales earned a personal best.
  • Nick Haylock led the Seahawks in the 60 meter Hurdles with a 1st place finish in a time of 8.82, earning a personal best. Aaron Morales followed behind in 3rd with a new personal best of 9.59.
  • The top three Seahawks in the 200 meters swept the top three finishes. Collin Fitzgerald took 1st in 22.66. Moses McRae took 2nd in 23.19 with a personal record. Mason Layne earned 3rd in 23.64 and a personal record. Aaron Morales ran in 24.60 for a 7th finish, earning a personal best.
  • Four Seahawks competed in the 400m event, led by Moses McRae in 1st place in a time of 51.76, setting a new St. Mary's School Record and personal best. Mason Layne followed after with a time of 52.82.  RJ Etzler finished the top three Seahawks in a time of 54.25 and a new personal record.
  • The three performers in the 800m run were led by Jake Robey with a 2:07.01 in 1st place.  Jonathan Howell finished in 6th with a new personal best in 2:14.55. RJ Etzler took 9th place in 2:27.06.
  • Pierson Hogue led six Seahawks in the 1 Mile. Hogue finished in 2nd place in 4:47.97. Michael Wade followed after in 3rd in a time of 4:52.76. Jake Robey earned 4th place with a personal best of 4:54.76.
  • Multiple personal records were set in the Men's 3000 Meter Run, with eight Seahawks running the event. Michael Wade led the way in 2nd place in 9:18.38. Pierson Hogue took 3rd in 9:27.45 for a personal best. Blake Carberry took 5th in 9:56.29 for a personal best. Kelly Byrne finished 6th in 10:03.56 for a personal best. Patton Harbourt earned 9th for a personal record in 10:41.67.
  • Four Seahawks ran the 5K event.  Michael Wade earned 2nd in 17:04.10. Kelly Byrne finished 4th in 18:03.13. Blake Carberry and Owen Swisdak took 5th in 18:18.42 and 6th in 19:30.51 respectively.
  • The Seahawks competed in the 4x400m relay setting a new St. Mary's School Record.  The top squad of Mason Layne, Collin Fitzgerald, Moses McRae, and Michael Wade finished in 3:33.64 with a 1st place finish.
  • The men's Distance Medley Relay squad of Jake Robey, Zane Obi, Bryce Webster, and Pierson Hogue finished in a time of 11:50.44 to take a 1st place finish.
  • Zack Kralec competed in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.68 meters on the fifth jump of six attempts.
  • Zack Kralec set a new St. Mary's School Record in the Men's Pole Vault with a 1st place finish of 4.45 meters.  With this jump, Kralec met the qualifying standard for AARTFC.
  • Doel Nkalo finished with a throw of 8.72 meters on the third attempt in the Shot Put.
  • Doel Nkalo led two Seahawks in the Weight Throw. Nkalo threw a 4th place finish of 10.89 meters on the first attempt of six throws. Zack Kralec earned 6th with 9.37 meters on the sixth throw of six attempts, setting a personal best.
