LATHAM, N.Y. – Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./James W. Robinson) was named the United East Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning (Mar. 18). This is Rohr's second career player of the week award.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team posted a 2-1 record during their Spring Break in Hilton Head Island, S.C., competing at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest.
St. Mary's College handed Penn State Behrend a 4-2 setback (March 11) before falling 7-0 to University of Lynchburg (March 13). The Seahawks rebounded with a 6-1 victory over Alfred University (March 13). The 6-0 fifth-year captain posted a 2-1 record in singles action while going 1-2 in doubles action with first-year
Jacob Nelson.
In the Penn State Behrend match, Rohr and Nelson notched a 6-1 victory over
Jonathon Laier and
Owen Sinnott before posting a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Sinnott.
Rohr and Nelson lost 6-7 (3) to Lynchburg's
Luca Morbioli and
Timothee DePaquit before Rohr fell 1-6, 0-6 to Morbioli.
Rohr tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alfred's
Ricardo Alvarez after falling 4-6 in doubles to Alvarez and
Breece Erickson.
The Seahawks (4-4) will return to action Monday, March 24, when SMCM welcomes Harford Community College (0-1) to the Somerset Tennis Courts for an exhibition match at 3 pm.
