ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland sailing teams continue to perform at a high level as St. Mary's College collected three top-three finishes, including picking up its fourth win of the spring season this past weekend (Mar. 22-23).
The Seahawks finished in first place at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Kings Point Open Team Race while taking second at the Admiral Moore Team Race hosted by SUNY Maritime College. SMCM also came in third at the Hanbury Trophy hosted by Christopher Newport University.
KP OPEN TEAM RACE
St. Mary's College dropped only one race the entire weekend, finishing with a 16-1 record for the team title. Bowdoin College came in second with a 12-5 mark while Roger Williams University took third with a 9-8 log.
In Round 1, the Seahawks posted an 8-1 record, falling 3-4-5 to Cornell University. SMCM posted four perfect 1-2-3 finishes over U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Jacksonville University, the hosts, and Roger Williams.
St. Mary's College went 5-0 in the Top 6, including a 1-2-3 win over Bowdoin. The Seahawks then notched a 3-0 record in the Final Four, earning wins over Bowdoin (1-2-4), Roger Williams (1-2-4), and the University of Pennsylvania (1-2-6).

Owen Hennessey (Washington, D.C./Severn), and sophomore
Landon Cormie (Vineyard Haven, Mass./Falmouth).
The crew was comprised of seniors
Brooke Bertrand (Costa Mesa, Calif./Corona Del Mar) and
Zoe Hoctor (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's), juniors
Raam Fox (Annapolis, Md./Severn) and
Emily Shioutakon (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel), and first-year
Jane Wright (Wilmington, N.C./Hoggard).
ADMIRAL MOORE TEAM RACE
The Seahawks notched a 12-2 record to place second behind regatta winner, U.S. Naval Academy, who tallied a 13-1 mark. Coast Guard finished third with a 10-4 log to round out the Top 3.
SMCM went a perfect 7-0 in Round 1, including 1-2-3 wins over Coast Guard and USMMA. Round 2 saw St. Mary's College register a 5-2 mark and earn 1-2-3 victories over Hobart & William Smith Colleges, USMMA for the second time, and Columbia University. The Seahawks' two losses were to Navy, 3-5-6, and Coast Guard, 3-5-6.

Mats Braaten (Toronto, Ont./Humberside) and
Nathan Jensen (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) and first-year
Joe Marynowski (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) were the skippers while senior
Indiana Theurer (Virginia Beach, Va./Homeschool), sophomores
Mary Govan (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and
Grace-Anne Phillips (Stevensville, Md./Gunston), and first-year
Walker Brescia (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) were the crew.
HANBURY TROPHY
SMCM came in third in the nine-team field with 141 points, finishing 10 points ahead of fourth-place University of South Florida (151 pts).

Max Kleha (Huntington, Calif./Mater Dei) and junior crew
Gina Bonazelli (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) placed fourth in Division A with 61 points, collecting two fourth-place finishes and a pair of fifth-place finishes in nine races.
First-year skipper
Scott Opert (Galesville, Md./Southern) and sophomore crew
Siena Adduci (Sherborn, Mass./Tabor) were fourth in Division B with 80 points.
