LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference office released the 2025 All-United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Teams Wednesday afternoon (May 7). The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team landed 11 on the all-conference teams, including a program-best eight on the First Team, plus junior
Joe Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) was tabbed the United East Defensive Player of the Year.
Szymanski's selection as the Defensive Player of the Year marks the third consecutive season that a Seahawk has earned the honor. Six Seahawks have collected seven Player of the Year awards.
Greg Matthews '94 nabbed the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year title in 1993 while
Jude Brown '22 (2022),
Keegan Preis '25 (2023), and
Joshua Martel '26 (2024) picked up United East Offensive Player of the Year awards. Additionally,
Ethan Little '24 (2023 and 2024) and Szymanski (2025) garnered United East Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Senior
Jake Levey (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) and sophomore
Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) both received Second Team awards.
Szymanski made his presence felt in his first season at St. Mary's College. The 6-4 defenseman ranked second in the United East with a team-leading 29 caused turnovers while coming in fifth with a team second-best 80 ground balls. He also added a goal and two assists while being named the United East Defensive Player of the Week (March 10) and landing on the USILA Division III Team of the Week (March 12).
Preis ended his four-year career as a three-time All-United East selection after earning two First Team awards (2023 and 2025) and a Second Team honor last season. The 6-0 attackman sat fourth in the league with a team-best 33 assists while tying for sixth with a team third-best 58 points. He also ranked eighth with a team third-leading 25 goals while adding 30 ground balls. Preis was named the United East Offensive Player of the Week on March 24.
Preis left the Seahawk men's lacrosse program as the all-time assists leader with 164 dimes while contributing 227 points, 110 ground balls, and 63 goals in 66 games played.
Hochrein picked up his second All-United East award but First Team honor after landing on the Second Team last season. The 6-3 midfielder finished fifth in the conference with a team second-best 25 assists while taking eighth with a team fourth-best 46 points. He also ranked fourth on the team with 21 goals while contributing 15 ground balls.
Hochrein put up 70 goals and 51 assists for 121 career points in 64 games while adding 39 ground balls.
Doyle grabbed his second First Team award since his first in 2022. The 2022 United East Rookie of the Year enjoyed his best campaign with team-bests of 56 goals and 77 points, which ranked first and second in the United East, respectively. He also dished out a team third-best 21 assists, good for seventh in the league. Doyle currently sits 31st in Division III with 3.11 goals per game. He was selected as the United East Offensive Player of the Week (March 17) and earned a spot on the USILA Division III Team of the Week (March 19) as well.
Doyle graduated as the program's all-time goals leader with 155 goals while collecting 233 points, 78 assists, 76 ground balls, 17 man-up goals, and 14 caused turnovers in 65 games played.
Heath made it two years in a row with his second straight First Team award. The 5-10 defenseman tied for fourth in the league with a team second-best 19 caused turnovers while tying for 14th with a team fourth-best 38 ground balls. He earned two United East Defensive Player of the Week awards this season while chipping in a goal and an assist.
Heath notched 127 ground balls and 68 caused turnovers plus two goals and two assists in 68 games as a Seahawk.
Hatfield wrapped up his four-year career as a three-time All-United East selection, earning First Team honors in 2023 and 2025 while landing on the Second Team last season. The 6-4 short-stick defensive midfielder sat sixth in the league with a team third-best 18 caused turnovers while ranking fifth on the team with 34 ground balls. He also tallied four goals and three assists this season.
Hatfield amassed 153 ground balls, 57 caused turnovers, 22 goals, and 10 assists during his four-year career.
Ciccarello landed on the First Team for the second straight season as the 6-1 face-off specialist led the conference with 236 face-off wins and 129 ground balls while ranking fourth with a .591 face-off win percentage. He currently ranks 42nd in Division III with 7.59 ground balls per game. Ciccarello also scored a career-best three times this season.
Martin earned his first postseason award in his first season as a starter. The 5-11 long-stick midfielder ranked fourth for the Seahawks with 16 caused turnovers, which tied for eighth in the league, while scooping up 20 ground balls.
Levey also collected his first All-United East honor after finishing tied for eighth in the conference with a team fourth-best 16 assists. The 5-6 midfielder also ranked fifth on the team with 15 goals and 31 points while adding 16 ground balls.
Levey left St. Mary's College with 95 career points on 53 goals and 42 assists while totaling 51 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers in 70 career games.
Horton was the final first-timer for the Seahawks on this year's all-conference squads. The 6-2 attackman ranked third in the United East with a team second-best 44 goals while taking fifth with a team second-leading 60 points. He also tied for eighth with a team fourth-best 16 assists. A two-time United East Offensive Player of the Week, Horton added 24 ground balls as well.
St. Mary's College (10-8) made its third straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, advancing to the second round for a third season in a row. The Seahawks also claimed their fourth consecutive United East tournament title and third straight conference regular-season crown.
