Six Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Players Named CSC Men’s Academic All-District At-Large

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Six members of the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team landed on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team as announced by CSC Tuesday afternoon (June 17).
 
Matteo Ciccarello '26 (Crofton, Md./Arundel), Quinnten Hatfield '25 (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), Jeremy Heath '25 (Chester, Md./Kent Island), Nate Hochrein '25 (Baltimore, Md./Towson), Adam Martin '26 (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island) and Cullen McKay '25 (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) all garnered the honor.
 
Hatfield and Heath are both making their third consecutive appearance on the Academic All-District® Team while Martin is picking up his second Academic All-District® At-Large award.
 
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Hatfield was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Men's At-Large Academic All-America® First, Second, and Third Team honorees will be announced on Wednesday, July 9.
 
Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA plus meet high athletic standards.
 
Ciccarello, a computer science and mathematics double major with a 3.941, earned his second straight First Team All-United East Conference award after leading the league with 236 face-off wins and 129 ground balls. He also ranked fourth with a .591 face-off win percentage. The 6-1 face-off specialist finished his junior campaign 42nd in Division III with 7.59 ground balls per game.
 
Hatfield graduated summa cum laude as he posted a 3.982 GPA as a double major in physics and computer science and a mathematics minor. The 2025 United East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the 6-4 short-stick defensive midfielder wrapped up his four-year Seahawk career as a three-time Honorable Mention USILA All-American (2023, 2024, 2025) and a three-time All-United East selection, earning First Team honors in 2023 and 2025 while landing on the Second Team in 2024.
 
A biology major, Heath graduated magna cum laude with a 3.837 GPA. He earned his second consecutive First Team All-United East award as a senior. The 5-10 defenseman tied for fourth in the league with a team second-best 19 caused turnovers while tying for 14th with a team fourth-best 38 ground balls. He earned two United East Defensive Player of the Week awards while chipping in a goal and an assist.
 
Hochrein was a cum laude graduate with a 3.504 GPA as a business administration & management major and economics minor. The 6-3 midfielder picked up his second career All-United East award as he made the First Team after landing on the Second Team last season. He finished fifth in the conference with a team second-best 25 assists while taking eighth with a team fourth-best 46 points. He also ranked fourth on the team with 21 goals while contributing 15 ground balls.
 
An economics and business administration double major with a 3.956 GPA, Martin earned his first postseason award in his first season as a starter, gaining a spot on First Team All-United East. The 5-11 long-stick midfielder ranked fourth for the Seahawks with 16 caused turnovers, which tied for eighth in the league, while scooping up 20 ground balls.
 
McKay earned cum laude honors with a 3.529 GPA as a psychology major and history minor. The 5-10 goalie finished his senior year ranked second in the United East with a 10.27 goals against average and third with a 0.509 save percentage.
