St. Mary’s College Men’s Tennis Trio Earn All-United East Honors

LATHAM, N.Y. – Three members of the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team landed on the All-United East Conference Men's Tennis Teams as released by the league office Tuesday morning (May 6).
 
In singles action, fifth-year captain Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./Robinson) and junior Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) were First Team honorees while first-year Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./Sherwood) gained a spot on the Second Team.
 
The duo of Rohr and Nelson picked up a Second Team nod for doubles.
 
Rohr wrapped up his Seahawk career as a six-time All-United East selection with three awards in singles and three in doubles while this is Esztergomi's third all-conference award in a row.
 
SINGLES
Rohr is now a three-time First Team All-United East selection for singles, earning the award in three consecutive seasons. The 6-0 No. 1 singles player posted an 8-5 overall record at No. 1 singles during his senior campaign, including a 5-2 mark in conference play. He garnered his second career United East Player of the Week award on March 18.
 
Esztergomi is making his first-ever appearance on the First Team after picking up two straight Second Team nods in his first two seasons. The 6-6 No. 2 singles player notched a 9-5 overall record as a junior, including a 9-3 mark in dual matches and a 6-1 ledger in United East action. The United East Player of the Week on April 8, Esztergomi finished out the season strong with seven straight wins.
 
Nelson collected a team-best 12 victories on his way to Second Team accolades. In his first season as a Seahawk, the 6-0 No. 3 singles player tallied a 12-6 record, including a 12-4 dual match mark and a 5-2 conference log. He appeared at least once at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles throughout the season, recording an 8-2 ledger at the third singles flight. Nelson was named the United East Player of the Week on March 4 and ended his rookie season in a six-match win streak.
 
DOUBLES
Rohr earned his first Second Team award in doubles action after collecting a pair of First Team honors. Rohr and Nelson put together a 6-8 record at No. 1 doubles, including a 4-3 mark in conference play.
 
St. Mary's College posted an 11-6 (6-1 UEC) overall record, gaining the No. 2 seed in the United East Tournament and advancing to the championship match for the fourth straight season.
