Six St. Mary’s College Athletes Named CSC Women’s Academic All-District At-Large

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland was represented on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team by six Seahawks as announced by CSC Tuesday afternoon (June 17).
 
Charlotte Horn '25 (Schnecksville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and Emma Watkins '26 (Frederick, Md./Linganore) of the St. Mary's College field hockey team; Hailey Betch '25 (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Madison Laine '25 (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) of the Seahawks women's lacrosse team; and Elise Kinyanjui '25 (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) and Erin Rhodes '25 (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) of the SMCM women's rowing team all garnered the honor.
 
Horn is making her third consecutive appearance on the Academic All-District® Team while Kinyanjui is picking up her second Academic All-District® award after earning a spot on the 2023-24 Academic All-District® Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Team.
 
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Betch, Horn, and Watkins have been selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Women's At-Large Academic All-America® First, Second, and Third Team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 8.
 
Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA plus meet high athletic standards.
 
Betch, an economics and business administration double major with a 3.515, concluded her career as a two-time United East Conference Offensive Player of the Year and four-time First Team United East selection. She was also a three-time Second Team IWLCA All-Metro Region pick. The 6-0 attacker leaves the program as the all-time points leader with 323 on 215 goals and 108 assists.
 
Horn earned a 3.85 GPA as an environmental studies and marine science double major. The 5-5 defender wrapped up her career as a three-time conference Defensive Player of the Year and four-time First Team All-Conference awardee. She also collected four NFHCA All-Region IV honors, notching 13 assists and six goals from her defensive position.
 
A neuroscience and psychology double major, Kinyanjui finished with a 3.777 GPA. She picked up three All-Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference honors during her career, including a First Team award as a senior. Kinyanjui helped the Seahawks women's rowing team to three MARC championship titles in 2022, 2024, and 2025 as well as three trips to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships.
 
Laine gained a 3.952 GPA as a psychology major and educational studies minor. The 5-9 team captain helped St. Mary's College claim its fourth straight United East championship crown and make its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. She put up 88 goals and 46 assists during her four-year career.
 
A biology and English double major and creative writing minor with a 3.959 GPA, Rhodes was a two-time First Team All-MARC selection. She was key in leading the Seahawks women's rowing team to three MARC championship titles in 2022, 2024, and 2025 as well as three trips to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships.
 
Watkins currently owns a 3.746 GPA as a psychology major and educational studies minor. The 4-11 forward was named the 2024 United East Player of the Year and earned First Team All-United East honors as well. She tallied a team-best 12 goals during her junior campaign, helping the Seahawks win the United East championship title and earn a berth in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament.
