LATHAM, N.Y. – Team captains
Allie Petryszak (Baltimore, Md./Mercy) and
Ashlyn Bonner (Ellicott City, Md./Wilde Lake) were picked as the United East Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The league office made the announcement Monday afternoon (Sept. 1).
This is Petryszak's first career weekly award while Bonner is earning her third career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team opened the 2025 campaign with one victory and one draw.
Petryszak netted the game-winning goal in St. Mary's College's 3-1 season-opening win over Neumann University (Aug. 29) while Bonner dished out a pair of assists, including assisting on the game-winner.
Petryszak and Bonner were then part of a defensive unit that held No. 20 The College of New Jersey (Aug. 30) scoreless in a 0-0 draw despite TCNJ posting a 19-0 shot advantage as well as a 6-2 corner kick margin.
The Seahawks (1-0-1) will be back in action this Wednesday, Sept. 3, when SMCM travels to Frederick, Md., to face Hood College (0-1-0) in a non-conference match at 5 pm.
