MEDIA, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team collected their second straight top-three finish Friday evening (Sept. 12) as St. Mary's College previewed the 6K course of the 2025 United East Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Penn State Brandywine on Nov. 1.
The Seahawks, the four-time defending United East champions, placed second in the 10-team field with 60 points as Lancaster Bible College edged SMCM by six points for the team title. Cairn rounded the Top 3 with 93 points for third. Cairn's

How It Happened
- Sophomore Ella Mitchell (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) finished sixth out of 75 runners in 26:26.00 to be the first St. Mary's College runner to cross the finish line.
- Senior Kate Wachter (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair) was on Mitchell's heels, clocking a 27:13.84 for seventh place.
- The team's third scorer was first-year Elle Wilson (Westminster, Md./Westminster) as Wilson posted an 11th-place finish in 27:46.32.
- In her first race since Aug. 30, junior Avery Arizzi (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) claimed a 16th-place finish in 28:47.30 to be the fourth Seahawk to finish.
- Junior Weiya Carter (Towson, Md./Towson) closed out the scoring for SMCM as Carter placed 20th in 29:22.29.
