Harrison Named United East Offensive Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – Junior Hope Harrison (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team was selected as this season's first United East Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. Harrison, who is earning her first career weekly honor, was announced as the winner by the conference office Monday afternoon (Feb. 23).
 
Harrison has had a strong start to her junior campaign, leading St. Mary's College through three games with 10 goals and 12 points while ranking second with two assists.
 
The 5-5 midfielder started the year with two goals and an assist plus three draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover in a 17-9 loss at Roanoke College (Feb. 14).
 
She then put up career-bests of four goals and five points plus one ground ball and one caused turnover in a 9-8 overtime loss at the University of Lynchburg (Feb. 18).
 
Harrison notched a career-high four goals for the second straight game while adding one ground ball and one draw control in a 16-10 loss to Shenandoah University (Feb. 21).
 
She currently leads the league with 10 goals and 12 points while being tied for second with two assists. Harrison also ranks fifth with four draw controls.
 
The Seahawks (0-3) will be back in action Saturday, February 28, when the Seahawks travel to Newport News, Va., to face Christopher Newport University (2-0) in non-conference action at 4 pm.
