LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior captain
Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) was selected at the United East Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Mar. 23). This marks the second straight week that a Seahawk women's lacrosse player has been named Offensive Player of the Week.
This is Scala's first career weekly honor as the 5-5 attacker notched 11 draw controls, six goals, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and an assist over St. Mary's College's two games last week.
Scala tallied a goal and an assist plus a season-best eight draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover in a 15-13 loss at Washington College (Mar. 17). She then scored a career-best five goals to go along with three draws and a caused turnover in a 15-9 loss at No. 16 Messiah University.
She currently ranks second in the United East with 26 draw controls while sitting fifth with 13 goals. Scala is also tied for sixth with 17 points.
The Seahawks (1-8, 0-0 UEC) will be back in action Saturday, Mar. 28, when the Seahawks travel to Chambersburg, Pa., to take on Wilson College (0-7, 0-0 UEC) in the conference opener for both teams at 1 pm.
