LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior Joe Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) was selected as the United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (April 13). This is Szymanski's fourth career (and third of the season) defensive player of the week award.
 
The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team is coming off an 11-5 road loss to No. 13 Dickinson College (April 11).
 
Szymanski scooped up six ground balls and had one caused turnover to lead the St. Mary's College defense.
 
The 6-4 defenseman leads the United East with 26 caused turnovers while ranking fifth with 71 ground balls.
 
The Seahawks (8-5) will be back in action Saturday, April 18, when SMCM travels to Grove City, Pa., to take on Grove City College (7-7) in non-conference action at 11 am.
