Colonna Goal Pushes Hawks Past Wesley

St. Mary's City, Md. - Freshman Taylor Colonna (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) notched the game-winning goal with 6:45 left in the contest to give St. Mary's College of Maryland a 1-0 victory against Wesley College in Capital Athletic Conference women's soccer action.

Junior midfielder Cait Evans (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) redirected the ball towards Colonna inside the box.  Colonna then slipped it past Wesley's senior keeper Brittany Block (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) for the game's only goal.

St. Mary's (6-9-1, 4-3-1 CAC) out-shot the visiting Wolverines, 18-1, while registering six corner kicks to Wesley's two.

Junior Marie Oben (Glenn Dale, Md./St. Mary's-Annapolis) made just one stop in recording her second consecutive shutout.  Block finished the game with eight saves.

The Seahawks will return to action tomorrow when St. Mary's travels to Newport News, Virginia to take on Christopher Newport University in non-conference action at 6:00.
