Box Score

Owings Mills, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team has now won two in a row after handing Villa Julie College a 1-0 setback in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks (4-6, 2-2 CAC) came out firing in the first half as St. Mary's posted an 11-2 advantage in shots to Villa Julie's two.  However, VJC keeper Eric Lowman had four first-half saves to keep the match scoreless through halftime.

However, senior captain Mikael Tigrett (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) broke the scoreless tie as Tigrett netted the contest's lone goal at 79:27 for his team-leading fifth score of the year.

The Mustangs (4-6, 1-2 CAC) had two scoring chances following Tigrett's goal but senior Tim Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) denied them both to preserve the 1-0 shutout.

Carrier ended the game with four saves in his first shutout of the year, while Lowman finished with eight in the loss.

St. Mary's finished with a 21-12 shot advantage as well as a 4-1 margin on corner kicks.

The Seahawks return to action Monday, October 1 when St. Mary's travels to Frederick, Maryland to face Hood College in CAC play at 4:00.
