St. Mary's City, Md. - St. Mary's College of
Maryland and No. 5 Salisbury University finally wrapped up their
three-game series Tuesday afternoon, picking up where they had left
off on Sunday before being rained out in the top of the third of
the first game of the doubleheader. The Seahawks (13-17, 6-9
CAC) were no match for Salisbury as the Sea Gulls (29-1, 15-0 CAC)
went on to sweep the Capital Athletic Conference twinbill, 11-4 and
12-0, extending their nation-leading win streak to 29 straight.

Salisbury scored a run in every inning except in the
fourth and plated two runs in every scoring inning except in the
sixth. Junior southpaw Lucas Hanson
(Cambridge, Md./Cambridge) notched his first win of the year as
Hanson pitched four innings in relief of Eric
Willey. He had four strikeouts with three walks,
while allowing two runs on four hits.
Four Sea Gulls notched multiple hits with junior infielder
Randy Boyle (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll)
leading the way with a 3-for-5 effort with three RBI and two runs
scored.
The Seahawks avoided being shutout in the sixth with two runs
sparked by a triple to right field by senior infielder Jay
Benedetti (Laurel, Md./Hammond). A groundout to
second by senior DH Mike Broccolino (Millersville,
Md./Old Mill) brought home Benedetti. A two-out double to
right center by freshman infielder Brad Shepherd
(Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) drove in junior catcher J.P.
Debrowski (Sykesville, Md./Glenelg).
St. Mary's tacked on two more runs in the seventh as an RBI
single by Benedetti and a sac fly by freshman outfielder
Matt Streich (E. Greenwich, R.I./E. Greenwich)
helped plate the two runs of the game.
Senior right-hander Ryan D'Antuono (Ellicott
City, Md./Howard) was the starter for St. Mary's, allowing six runs
(three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks in
two innings.

The Sea Gulls recorded their seventh shutout of the
season, including the second against St. Mary's. Salisbury
used a pair of four-run innings in tallying the 12-0 rout of SMCM
in the nightcap. Senior righty Ryan Bennick
(Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth Area) threw a complete game to now boast an
8-0 mark, striking out nine and scattering five hits.
Both sophomore infielder Mike Celenza
(Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and senior outfielder
Brian Camper (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant)
registered three hits for SU as Celenza connected on a pair of
doubles and drove in five runs, while scoring twice.
Sophomore right-hander Jon Gill (Owings Mills,
Md./Park) was saddled with the loss to drop to 2-4 on the season
after giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits with three
walks.
