Box Score

Game Program

St. Mary's City, Md. - Freshman DH Nick Urso (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) connected on a one-out single down the leftfield line in the 10th inning to drive in the game-winning run as the St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team stayed alive in the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament with a 6-5 second round victory over the University of Mary Washington to eliminate the sixth-seeded Eagles.

After freshman RHP Andrew Juba (Manassas, Va.) relieved senior RHP Wes Hayden (Arlington, Vt.) in the bottom of the tenth inning, junior first baseman Jon Gill (Owings Mills, Md./Park) led off with a walk followed by a sacrifice hit by sophomore right fielder Bobby Corton (Owings Mills, Md./Calvert Hall) to advance Gill to second and set up Urso's game-winning hit.

Mike Victory Freshman RHP Mike Victory (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) picked up the win to improve to 3-0 on the season as Victory threw 5.0 innings of relief, giving up only one run on five hits.

The fifth-seeded Seahawks (14-17) will now face third-seeded Wesley College (23-13-1) tomorrow in third round action at Salisbury University at 1:00.  Wesley toppled top-seeded Salisbury, 4-2, while fourth-seeded Stevenson University defeated second-seeded York (Pa.) College, 16-11, in today's other second round games.

Mary Washington (14-15) owned a 3-1 advantage following the first inning of play after back-to-back RBI triples by junior Will Wright (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior Bryan Quintana (Miller Place, N.Y.).

The Eagles went up 4-1 before St. Mary's scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to come within one run thanks to an RBI single to centerfield by junior second baseman Lyle Kralle (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) and a sacrifice fly to centerfield by junior centerfielder Jacen Killebrew (La Plata, Md./La Plata).

The Seahawks knotted the contest in the fourth as the home team capitalized on two errors by Mary Washington.  St. Mary's then edged the visitors, 5-4, in the sixth Killebrew singled up the middle to score freshman third baseman Eric Gronbeck (Owings, Md./Northern) who led off the inning with an infield single.

After leading off the seventh with a double to left field, Quintana tied the game once again as he crossed home plate when senior pinch hitter Sean Marren (Victor, N.Y.) hit into a double play.

Senior catcher J.P. Debrowski (Sykesville, Md./Glenelg) paced the Seahawks at the plate with a 2-for-5 effort.

Juba (0-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season after allowing the game-winning hit in 0.1 innings.  Junior infielder Seamus Bergen (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) led the Eagles with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with a double and an RBI.
