Salisbury, Md. - Four
different Ospreys scored for No. 20 Richard Stockton College as RSC
posted a 4-0 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland men's
soccer in the opening day of the Elmer Lord Memorial Classic hosted
by Salisbury University Saturday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City,
N.J.) jump-started the Osprey offense early as
Tolomeo fired in a direct free kick from just
outside the penalty box into the top right corner at 1:40.
Junior midfielder Rafael Duarte (Ocean City, N.J.)
made it 2-0 just 10 minutes later as Duarte put
the finishing touches on a diagonal pass from freshman defender
Chris Hayman (Pittsgrove, N.J.), sending the ball
into the lower right.
Richard Stockton took a 3-0 lead into halftime after senior
forward Sean McCallum (Vineland, N.J.) redirected
a defensive clear back into the net at 27:30.
Senior midfielder Butch Huff (Toms River, N.J.)
netted the final Osprey tally at 88:14 as Huff
tapped in a loose ball in the box.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lou Herring (Freehold,
N.J.) picks up his first shutout of the season as
Herring did not need to make a save.
Junior goalkeeper Paul Spranklin (Columbia,
Md./Oakland Mills) notched five stops in the loss.
St. Mary's will return to action tomorrow as the Seahawks take
on Capital University in their second match of the Memorial
Classic. Kickoff is set for 1:00.
