St. Mary's City, Md. – Junior
captain Brian Payne (Catonsville, Md./Calvert
Hall) had a goal and an assist as the St. Mary's College of
Maryland men's soccer team is now unbeaten in their last two
games. The Seahawks picked up a 2-2 draw with Frostburg State
University Saturday afternoon to strengthen their shot of a berth
in the upcoming Capital Athletic Conference playoffs.

following goals in the 15th and 18th minutes while the Seahawks
tallied both of their goals in the second half.
Sophomore forward Shawn Baker (Jefferson,
Md./Brunswick) notched the Bobcats' first goal of the match
at 14:45 as Baker launched a shot from about 35
yards out that, with help from the afternoon's strong winds,
sailed over the head of senior goalkeeper Paul
Spranklin (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills).
Junior midfielder Michael Bistany (Greenbelt,
Md./DeMatha Catholic) converted on a penalty kick at 17:22 for
FSU's second tally.
Senior defender Kevin Seeger (Gaithersburg,
Md./Northwest) cut the lead to 2-1 at 56:36 as
Seeger headed in Payne's
corner kick from the right side. Payne then
knotted the contest at 2-all at 60:25 as he split two defenders
with his shot from just inside the penalty box, sending it to the
upper left corner just inside the near post.
St. Mary's (4-9-2, 2-3-1 CAC) excellent opportunities to
claim a victory in the second overtime stanza as junior
Matt Grady (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) had
three consecutive shots blocked and senior Keith
Hines' (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) header in the
final 10 seconds hit the near post and bounced out wide.
Spranklin finished the afternoon with five
saves, including a nice mid-air grab at close range off of senior
midfielder Danny Hutchins' (Baltimore,
Md./Parkville) foot in the second half to prevent FSU from claiming
a two-goal edge as well as notching a save in the first overtime
period.
The Seahawks posted a 30-11 shot advantage as well as a
10-4 corner kick margin.
Senior Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East
Lincoln) also had five stops for Frostburg State.

conference match-up against Marymount (Va.) University at 3:00 pm
