St. Mary's City, Md. – The St.
Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team dropped
their fourth one-goal decision of the season as Catholic University
notched a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Seahawks on Tuesday
afternoon.
St. Mary's (4-12-2) will look to snap its three-game
losing skid on Thursday, October 28 as the Seahawks welcome Wesley
College to Seahawk Stadium for the regular-season finale at 3:00
pm.
Prior to the start of Thursday's action, the team's
11 seniors, goalkeepers Paul Spranklin (Columbia,
Md.) and Matt Savopoulos (Scaggsville, Md.);
defenders Amir Reda (Odenton, Md.), Greg
Primiano (Barrington, R.I.), Zack Brooks
(Mechanicsville, Md.) and Kevin Seeger
(Gaithersburg, Md.); midfielders George Gusack
(College Park, Md.), Andrew Bell (Marshfield,
Mass.), and Keith Hines (Hollywood, Md.); and
forwards Nick Ibello (Cockeysville, Md.) and
Devon Leary (Washington, D.C.), will be recognized
for their years of service to the Seahawk men's soccer
program.
Catholic (9-5-3) extended its unbeaten streak to eight as
sophomore defender Mike Brennan (Feasterville,
Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) notched an unassisted goal at 50:43,
dribbling in on the left side and finishing with a shot to the
lower right corner.
The Cardinals posted a 13-6 shot advantage while edging St.
Mary's, 5-3, in corner kicks.
Savopoulous picked up his second career start
for the Seahawks, making three saves in the first 45 minutes, while
first-year Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St.
Paul's) started the second half and recorded three stops as
well.
