Box Score

Salisbury, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team finished up competition at the 2010 Elmer Lord Classic hosted by Salisbury University with a 2-0 loss to SUNY Geneseo Sunday afternoon.

St. Mary's (0-3) will not take the pitch again until Saturday, September 11 for the first day of the two-day Seahawk Soccer Classic that features No. 20 Salisbury, Greensboro College and Methodist College.  SMCM will square off against Greensboro at 1:30 followed by the Salisbury-Methodist match-up.  The Seahawks hope that home field advantage will help them secure their first win of the season.

The Seahawk defense in the second half as the defensive unit hunkered down Geneseo scoreless for the final 45 minutes following a 2-0 halftime advantage by the Knights.  Scoring unassisted goals for Geneseo were midfielders Matt Solimano (Webster, N.Y./Thomas) at 12:03 and Craig Schackner (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) at 24:36.

Geneseo (1-1-1), a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, finished with a 23-10 shot margin and an 8-2 corner kick advantage.

Seahawk defenders, Kevin Seeger (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) and J.T. Bowers (Columbia, Md./River Hill), notched the team's only two shots on goal while senior Paul Spranklin (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) had three saves.
