Richard Stockton Nips St. Mary's Men's Soccer

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team dominated and fought valiantly Wednesday afternoon but a first half goal was all Richard Stockton College needed to secure a 1-0 non-conference win.

St. Mary's (4-3) succumbed to its third straight loss, despite outshooting the Ospreys (6-2-1) by a 16-9 margin and holding a 7-5 margin in corner kicks.

Stockton's sophomore forward Ali Gocmez (Delran, N.J./Delran) put his team on the board in the 25th minute as Gocmez headed in a diagonal free kick taken from the right side by senior midfielder Brian Thomsen (Brick, N.J./Monsignor Donovan).

Sophomore goalkeeper Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) made two saves in the loss while RSC's sophomore Tim Brett (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) picked up seven stops in recording his fourth shutout of the season.

St. Mary's will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, September 24 when the Seahawks travel to Frederick, Maryland to take on Hood College (3-2-1) in Capital Athletic Conference action at 1:00 pm.
