Box Score York, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team dropped their first Capital Athletic Conference contest of the season despite sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Wirtz' (Parkton, Md./Hereford) second consecutive 10-save effort. Host York College of Pennsylvania handed the Seahawks a 2-0 setback Saturday afternoon.
Wirtz picked up 10 saves as York (2-6, 2-0 CAC) blasted 25 shots at her while the Spartans posted a 9-2 margin in corner kicks.
York notched two late second half goals at 64:44 and 87:53 to extend St. Mary's (4-2, 1-1 CAC) losing streak to two straight.
St. Mary's (4-2, 1-1 CAC) tallied nine shots with senior forward Bridget McGovern (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip Regional) and junior midfielder Liza Sitz (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) getting theirs on frame.
The Seahawks will look to return to the win column on Tuesday, September 27 when St. Mary's welcomes Catholic University of America (4-4) to Seahawk Stadium for non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
