Seahawk Men's Lacrosse Dominates Wesley on Senior Day

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team posted a convincing 18-3 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Wesley College Saturday afternoon as the Seahawks used a 10-goal second period and 10 players with multiple-point games to put the game away.

Junior attacker Patrick Mull (Fallston, Md./Fallston) paced all scorers with his first career hat trick on three goals while dishing out three assists.  Attackers John Dehm (Trumbull, Conn./Middlesex School [Mass.]) and Matt Tarrant (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) each contributed three goals and an assist.

St. Mary's (9-4, 6-1 CAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead at 8:25 as senior attacker Brendan Oster (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) notched a goal and two assists in the run.  First-year attacker Tony South (Glen Mills, Pa./Unionville) put Wesley on the scoreboard at 3:18 before junior midfielder Stew D'Ambrogi (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) sent the Seahawks into the second period with a 5-1 lead following his man-up goal at 2:00.

Junior Nathan Gorski (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) tallied the first goal of the second quarter before the Seahawks went on to score 10 straight to boast a 15-2 advantage at halftime.  Mull (3g, 3a) and Tarrant (3g, 1a) netted all of their points during the 10-0 run, including a man-down goal by Mull at 2:56.

Gorski led Wesley (2-11, 2-6 CAC) with a goal and an assist while junior goalkeeper Matt Ryan (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) gave up nine goals and made four saves in 22 minutes as the starter.

The Seahawks kept their run alive in the third stanza as the St. Mary's defense shutout the Wolverines in the third stanza while the offense put up two more on the scoreboard in a 37-second span.

Senior attacker J.P. Lennon (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) extended St. Mary's scoring run to 13 straight for the team's 18th and final goal of the contest.  Junior attacker Joe Donato (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) scored the last goal for Wesley at 5:38.

Junior midfielder Albert Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's) was 12-of-17 in face-offs as the Seahawks finished with a 16-of-25 team effort at face-off X.  First-year Nate Babcock (Baltimore, Md./Severn School) paced St. Mary's with four ground balls while junior long-stick midfielder Dalton Yohn (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) forced two Wolverine turnovers.

St. Mary's outshot the Wolverines, 44-29, while owning a 38-25 advantage in ground balls.  Senior goalie Stu Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) turned away 13 Wesley shots, including seven saves in the third period, in three quarters of action.

The Seahawks will be back in action on Wednesday, April 18th as St. Mary's travels to the Eastern Shore to take on top-ranked Salisbury University (14-0, 6-0 CAC) in conference play at 7:00 pm.
