St. Mary's City, Md. – Senior captain Jo Rambo (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) lifts the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team to their second Capital Athletic Conference win of the season, scoring with 3:37 left in regulation to post a 1-0 victory over Frostburg State University on a muddy, rainy, and windy Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Jess Konecke (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) started the scoring play for the Seahawks (3-7-3, 2-1-0 CAC) as Konecke sent in a pass to the middle of the field where fellow classmate Gillian Sawyer (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) flicked the ball to Rambo. Rambo then dribbled into the box before chipping it over junior Katie Smith (Reisterstown, Md./Maryvale Prep) into the top right corner.

Today's win is just the third for St. Mary's over the Bobcats (5-6-1, 2-1-1 CAC) as Frostburg State now owns an 8-3-2 series record.

The Bobcats doubled up on St. Mary's on shots, 22-11, while edging the hosts 5-3 in corner kicks.

Frostburg State outshot the Seahawks, 9-5, in the first half but was unable to get one past senior captain Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford). Wirtz finished with a season-best eight saves for her second shutout of the season. This was Wirtz's first game action since August 31st as she was sidelined for nearly six weeks with an injury.

Smith collected three stops in the loss which snapped a four-match unbeaten streak for the Bobcats.

St. Mary's will look to stretch its unbeaten streak to three on Saturday, October 12th when the Seahawks travel to Dover, Delaware to take on Wesley College in another conference matchup at 7:30 pm.
