St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team picked up their third one-run victory in four games as senior shortstop Corey Napier (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning with a single to left center. The Seahawks notched their third Capital Athletic Conference win of the season with a 4-3 win over the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans Friday afternoon.

First-year Michael O'Neill (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) led-off the ninth with a pinch-hit single to left field and then senior Carlos Cruz (Lexington, Md./Great Mills) pinch-ran for O'Neill, going to second on sophomore centerfielder Paul Roemer's (Westminster, Md./Westminster) sacrifice bunt. Sophomore reliever Mike Sarecky (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) then hit sophomore second baseman Luke Green (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) before sophomore leftfielder Brad Dioguardo's (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) infield single loaded the bases, setting up Napier's one-out, game-winning RBI single.

Napier paced the Seahawks at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort and two RBI while Dioguardo finished with two hits. Junior closer Sam Coe (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) improved to 4-1 on the season as Coe threw a no-hit ninth with one strikeout and one walk. Senior starter Devon Jerrard (Hunt Valley, Md./Boys' Latin) put up solid numbers, pitching 8.0 innings with three runs on five hits, four strikeouts and two walks.

York (7-11, 1-6 CAC) staked a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning with two hits. Senior first baseman Nic Long (North Wildwood, N.J./Wildwood Catholic) drew a lead-off walk then advanced to second on sophomore leftfielder Adam Bartholomew's (Haddonfield, N.J./Bishop Eustace) sacrifice bunt. York then placed runners on the corners as junior centerfielder Andrew Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) singled to left field and Long moved to third.

The Spartans' first run came of a double steal as Hershey stole second and Long took home. YCP doubled its lead as senior second baseman Dustin Worthman (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) singled to centerfield to score Hershey. Jerrard pitched back-to-back ground balls to get out of the inning.

The Spartans stretched their lead to 3-0 in the sixth as a pair of doubles put York on the board once again. Junior shortstop Colin Porter (Hanover, Pa./South Western) doubled to right center to bring home senior third baseman Justin Cohen (Severn, Md./Old Mill), who got on with a double to right field.

St. Mary's finally broke through in its half of the sixth inning as Green led off with a single to centerfield and then moved to second on Dioguardo's bunt single. Napier's sacrifice fly to centerfield scored Green to cut the lead to 3-1. The Seahawks had runners on first and second after Dioguardo stole second and sophomore designated hitter Zach Nadolny (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) walked.

Junior captain Alex Lenovitz (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) pulled his team within one with an RBI single to leftfield, scoring Dioguardo. Senior catcher Stefano Muscatelli (Warwick, R.I./Toll Gate) followed up Lenovitz's single with a double to right field and brought home Nadolny. A ground out to the pitcher ended St. Mary's rally.

Five different Spartans knocked in a hit while Sarecky dropped to 0-1 on the year, hurling 1.1 innings with one run on four hits.

St. Mary's will travel to Pennsylvania tomorrow to wrap up its series with York, starting at 1:00 pm.
