Salisbury, Md. – Manhattanville College's late penalty kick lifted the Valiants to a 3-2 victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team in the final day of Salisbury University's Elmer Lord Classic Saturday afternoon.

First-year midfielder Omar Parra (Atlanta, Ga.) attempted the penalty kick for Manhattanville (1-1) and found the back of the net for the eventual game-winning goal at 88:21.

Manhattanville edged St. Mary's 19-15 in shots while posting a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. M'ville's sophomore Steve Singson (Deer Park, N.Y.) made seven saves in the Valiant win while senior captain Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) came up with seven stops in his season debut for St. Mary's.

The Seahawks (1-1) struck first as sophomore defender Chris Harwick (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) fired in a shot from 30 yards out on the right side for his first career goal, giving St. Mary's the 1-0 lead at 22:19.

First-year forward Dan Lorandini (Garden City, N.Y.) evened up the score at 24:48 as Parra sent a leading pass and Lorandini shot it into the lower right side. Manhattanville then claimed a 2-1 lead nearly three minutes later on a header by first-year midfielder Jamie Macchia (Massapequa Park, N.Y.).

First-year Zach Fontenot's (Middletown, Md./Middletown) first collegiate goal knotted the score at 57:03 as Fontenot put away a deflected pass just inside the penalty box.

St. Mary's will take the week to recover and regroup before welcoming Salisbury, Bridgewater (Va.) College, and Shenandoah University to Seahawk Stadium for the Seahawk Classic on September 7-8. The Seahawks will face Bridgewater first on the 7th at 2:00 pm before squaring off against Shenandoah the next day at 3:00 pm.
