Heartbreaking Season-Opening Loss for St. Mary's Men's Soccer

Salisbury, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team opened up the 2014 campaign Friday afternoon at the annual Elmer Lord Memorial Classic hosted by Salisbury University. The Seahawks dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to The College of Brockport.

St. Mary's (0-1) outshot the Golden Eagles, 11-8, but only three were on target and junior Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) made sure to keep them out of the goal.

Brockport (1-0) posted a 7-5 margin in corner kicks and junior forward Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) broke up the scoreless draw with 3:51 remaining in the extra period.

Senior captain Nate Ramsland (Catonsville, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) picked up two stops in goal for the Seahawks.

St. Mary's will look to get in the win column tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when the Seahawks take on Patrick Henry College on the final day of the Elmer Lord Classic.
