Box Score St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team and The Catholic University of America battled for 110 minutes but the two sides ended up in a 2-2 draw in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.
Following a 35-minute delay to the start of the match, the Seahawks (3-3-1) came out firing and scored just 23 seconds into the game. Junior midfielder Nick Tait (Silver Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends) sent the ball ahead to sophomore forward Alessandro Burlew (Mount Airy, Md./Good Counsel). Burlew collected the pass, dribbled into the box before ripping a shot from the right side into the lower left corner.
St. Mary's stretched its lead to 2-0 at 24:00 as sophomore midfielder Sunny Chhatani (Lima, Peru/Indian Creek [Md.]) put back the rebound of Tait's shot which went off the post. The Seahawks headed into halftime with a 2-1 lead as an own goal helped Catholic avoid a goose egg on the scoreboard at 32:06. St. Mary's finished the half with a 13-5 margin in shots and doubled up the Cardinals in corner kicks, 4-2.
The Cardinals (2-5-1) evened up the contest at 2-2 in the 62nd minute. Senior defender Josh Barrett (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) connected on a header on goal which sophomore goalkeeper Zack Haussler (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) punched out, however, the ball fell at the feet of sophomore midfielder Heston Priestley (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) who volleyed the ball over Haussler into the goal.
Catholic's junior goalkeeper, Zachery Tashjy (Manasquan, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), was sent off the field with a red card with 10:20 remaining in regulation. The Cardinals were then forced to play a man down for the remainder of the match.

Haussler ended the game with five saves while Tashjy picked up seven stops in 79:40. Junior Steven Lukas (Newark, Del./St. Elizabeth) replaced Tashjy and recorded one save.
