St. Mary's City, Md. – Senior captain Gillian Sawyer (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) netted the game-winning goal to propel the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team to their second Capital Athletic Conference win of the season against the Frostburg State University Bobcats on Saturday afternoon.
With her 10th goal of the season, Sawyer not only became the school's all-time points leader but also has the most game-winning goals in program history. The 5-7 forward passed Christa Childers '02 for the top spot as Sawyer now has 94 points (42g, 10a), beating Childers' mark of 93 (36g, 21a). In addition, she currently has 12 game-winning goals during her four-year career, breaking the old mark of 11 set by Katie Campbell '93.

How It Happened
- First goal of the game would be by senior midfielder Claire Kostelnik (Los Angeles, Calif./Flintridge Sacred Heart) who received the ball from sophomore midfielder Emily Huey (Pocomoke City, Md./Snow Hill) off a corner kick in the 12th minute of the game.
- In the 32nd minute, Sawyer would receive an assist from Kostelnik for the historic goal which put the Seahawks up 2-0 entering the second half of the game.
- At 50:45, junior midfielderMelanie Bell (Sykesville, Md./Century) would find the net for the first and only goal for Frostburg.
- Despite the Bobcats' efforts, the Seahawks would close out the game with the win.
For St. Mary's (5-4, 2-0 CAC)
- Scorers: Kostelnik (1 goal – 11:34, 1 assist); Sawyer (1 goal – 31:38); Huey (1 assist).
- Goalkeeper: junior Sydney Larkin (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) would play 90 minutes and walk away with three saves.
- The Seahawks would take 16 shots and have six corner kicks.
For Frostburg (4-7, 1-1 CAC)
- Scorers: Bell (1 goal – 50:45).
- Goalkeeper: sophomore Rhianna Lapen (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) would play 90 minutes and have eight saves to complete the contest.
- The Bobcats would capture seven shots and conclude the game with no corner kicks
Notes
- Sawyer just needs eight more goals for her 50th career goal.
