Frostburg, Md. – The No. 3 seed St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team concluded their season Wednesday night, falling in penalty kicks to No. 2 seed Frostburg State University in the semifinals of the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

St. Mary's (Md.) – 1, Frostburg State – 1 (2 OT) (Frostburg advances on PKs, 4-2)

How It Happened

- The two sides were even at 2-2 through the first penalty kick takers. Each side then missed their attempt. St. Mary's missed its fourth attempt as it hit the crossbar after first-year forward Brooke Shehade (Odenton, Md./Spalding) netted hers for a 3-2 FSU lead. Junior midfielder Melanie Bell (Sykesville, Md./Century) converted her PK to advance Frostburg State to the title game, 4-2, on PKs as the Seahawks again hit the crossbar for their second miss.
- St. Mary's would be first on the scoreboard when sophomore Emily Huey (Pocomoke, Md./Snow Hill) found the back of the net with a free kick to the lower left of the goal at 23:03.
- The Seahawks staked a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
- At 62:37, the Bobcats would tie up the game when sophomore defender Danielle Ferris (New Market, Md./Linganore) took advantage of a corner kick from senior forward Jessi Martz (Pasadena, Md./Linganore).
- With a little over eight minutes remaining in regulation, St. Mary's was awarded a penalty kick but Sawyer's shot was saved by sophomore Rhianna Lapen (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore).
- The Seahawks and Frostburg would battle for two overtime periods; however, both keepers kept the slate clean in the extra frames, forcing a penalty kick shootout.

- Scorers: Huey (1 goal).
- Goalkeeper: Junior Sydney Larkin (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) would play 110:00 minutes and walked away with eight saves.
