Dover, Del. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team (9-20, 5-11 CAC) topped the Wesley College Wolverines (18-13, 10-6 CAC) Wednesday afternoon, 8-4, for their second straight Capital Athletic Conference win. The Seahawks secured the win with eight runs on 14 hits and no errors.

Junior second baseman Zach Rowe (Davidsonville, Md./Calvert Hall), senior shortstop Hunter Mohler (La Plata, Md./Bishop McNamara), and senior catcher Conner Goodie (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) were the heavy hitters with all recording doubles for the Seahawks. Mohler had a strong showing against the Wolverines with one run, three hits, and two RBI while Goodie contributed three hits and brought in three runs.

The Seahawks would be the first on the board, taking a 2-1 lead in the third inning. They would come back to secure their lead with a five-run scoring rally in the fifth. Rowe would set the momentum for the inning, doubling to right center and advancing to third on a fielding error by the Wolverines. Goodie would follow the momentum, bringing in two runs after a double to left center as first-year outfielder Holden Marshall (Baltimore, Md./Friends School) and senior Hayden Ferington (Centreville, Md./Westfield) crossed home plate to close out the inning.

Wesley would try to battle in the bottom of the fifth with their biggest and last scoring rally of three runs. Wesley was led by senior shortstop Eric Speidel (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrenceville School) who tallied one run, two hits, and two RBI. Despite their hard fought attempt, they would not be able to top the Seahawks.

The Seahawks would score one last run in the top of the ninth, concluding the game with a four-run lead.  Junior Nicholas Raimondo (Davidsonville, Md./South River) would receive the win after working five innings for the Seahawks. Junior Jimmy Robey (Kensington, Md./Gonzaga College) would also see work in the bullpen for 2.1 innings and came out with his first save of the season.

The Seahawks will be back in action in their regular-season finale, hosting No. 13/30 Frostburg State University at the Hawk's Nest on Saturday, April 16 at 12:00 p.m.
