St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks (7-19, 3-10 CAC) stumbled against the University of Mary Washington Eagles (21-11, 5-8 CAC), 9-4, in the second game of the Capital Athletic Conference season series with Mary Washington. With today's loss, St. Mary's finished the regular-season 1-1 against the Eagles.

Senior designated hitter Hayden Ferington (Centreville, Va./Westfield) had a strong showing with two hits and two RBI while senior first baseman Michael O'Neill (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) and junior Zach Rowe (Davidsonville, Md./Calvert Hall) each recorded an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Matt Bieler (Bowie, Md./Bowie) tallied two hits and a run. The Seahawks would wrap up the game with four runs on six hits and no errors.

The Seahawks would score in the sixth inning after a four-run scoring rally by the Eagles in the fifth and trailing six nothing. The Eagles answered back with three runs at the bottom of the seventh. The Seahawks would not stop battling and came in ready to get on the board at the top of the eighth. Ferington would single to left field, allowing Bieler to stride to home plate. O'Neill would bring in Rowe after a grounder to third base, making it the fourth run of the day for the Seahawks.

Mary Washington was paced by sophomore outfielder Kyle Bynum (Portsmouth, Va./Virginia Tech) who was able to showcase three runs, two hits, and two RBI. The Eagles concluded the game with nine runs on 11 hits and two errors.

Junior Nick Raimondo (Davidsonville, Md./South River) worked 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. Sophomore RHP Eric Jorgeson (Springfield, Va./W.T. Woodson) received the win after seeing 6.0 innings on the mound.

The Seahawks will be back in action at the Hawk's Nest on Saturday, April 9 as they take on Southern Virginia University in a conference doubleheader, starting at 12:00 p.m., and honor the legacy of 22nd-year head coach Lew Jenkins in conjunction with the annual Spring Break-a-Sweat celebration.
