Buena Vista, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team used a late own goal to force overtime and eventually record a 1-1 draw at Southern Virginia University Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action.

St. Mary's 1, Southern Virginia 1 (2 OT)

How It Happened

• The Knights outshot St. Mary's, 7-3, in the first half and Kora Jewell put Southern Virginia on the board in the 26th minute with an unassisted goal.
• SVU seemed poised to come away with three points but an own goal in the 88th minute kept the Seahawks in the fight.
• The Seahawks went to work in the two 10-minute extra frames, collecting two shots and a corner kick in each overtime period.
• Merideth Ouellette preserved the 1-1 draw with two saves in OT.

For the Seahawks (3-7-4, 2-2-2 CAC)

• Scorers: Own Goal
• Goalkeeper: Sydney Larkin (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 110:00)
• St. Mary's finished the contest with 11 shots (five on goal) and four corner kicks.

For Southern Virginia (5-7-2, 2-3-1 CAC)

• Scorer: Jewell (1 goal)
• Goalkeeper: Ouellette (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 110:00)
• The Knights extended their unbeaten streak to three straight with 11 shots (five on goal).

Notes

• St. Mary's moves to 2-0-3 all-time against the Knights in a series which began in 2013.
