St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team notched their first Capital Athletic Conference win of the season in dominant fashion Wednesday afternoon with a 20-9 victory over the University of Mary Washington, splitting the season series with the Eagles.

How It Happened
- St. Mary's and the Eagles would battle closely throughout the game, closing the fifth inning tied 9-9. After a scoreless sixth inning for UMW, the Seahawks would take the lead after scoring two runs in their half of the sixth.
- The Seahawks were led by sophomore centerfielder Lucas Kraft (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) who had a strong showing at the plate with a game-best four hits, including a triple in the bottom of the sixth to bring in sophomore shortstop Brandon Snow (Owings, Md./Northern).
- Junior third baseman Dan McCann (Laurel, Md./Atholton) would advance Kraft home when he doubled to right center, giving St. Mary's an 11-9 lead.
- Mary Washington would be shutout over the final four innings. The Seahawks capitalized on their momentum and added three more runs in the seventh for a five-run cushion.
- St. Mary's would cap off the game in the eighth inning by going on a four-run rally for an insurmountable 11-run advantage.
- First-year first baseman Jay Hammett (Coltons Point, Md./Chopticon), Snow, and McCann would all notch a double against the Eagles.
- Sophomore designated hitter Bennett Garner (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and senior leftfielder Dane Pepper (Reston, Va./Montrose Christian) would also help lead the Seahawks recording three RBI each.
- Sophomore RHP Tim Hand (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) would earn his first win as a Seahawk, pitching 3.0 innings.
For St. Mary's (7-15, 1-10 CAC)
- Hitting: Kraft (4-for-5, 3 runs, 2 RBI, triple); Matt Bieler (4-for-6, 2 runs, 2 RBI)
- Pitching: Mark Smith (No decision; 3.0 IP, 7 runs (5 earned), 9 hits, 2 walks); Nick Raimondo (2.0 IP, 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk); Tim Hand (W, 1-0) (3.0 IP, 2 strikeouts, 2 hits); Graham Haliskoe (1.0 IP)
