Baseball Drops Non-Conference Game to Hampden-Sydney

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team (2-2) continued their 2020 season on Saturday (Feb. 29) afternoon by hosting the Hampden-Sydney Tigers (6-3). The Seahawks fell to the Tigers by a score of 12-2 giving the Seahawks their second loss of the season.

How It Happened 

• The Tigers were all over the Seahawks managing six runs in five innings. The Seahawks managed to get one run across in the bottom of the fifth off a single by Jake Wood to right field scoring Travis Rinker. Rinker also homered in the bottom of the seventh inning making the score 7-2. The Tigers ended the game strong pushing another five runs across the plate in three innings. 

Inside the Box score

• Wood and Rinker both had RBI's and Rinker hit the first homerun of the season for the Seahawks. Jay Hammett, Derek Taitano, Andy Collins, and Joey Bryner were all also able to record hits. 

• Dillion Waters started the game on the mound. Waters pitched five innings giving up ten hits and six runs. Waters also struck out five batters. In total the Seahawks pitching staff had seven strikeouts.
