Seahawks Baseball Drops Nail-Biter at Marymount

Tysons, VA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (9-17) made the short mid-week trip to Northern Virginia to take on the Marymount University Saints (19-14). The Seahawks dropped the Non-Conference Matchup at the wire, falling 5-4.   

How It Happened

  • The Saints led the Seahawks after the first three innings by a score of 3-1. The Seahawks got their lone run in the top of the third when Cole Tarleton got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Garrett Pullium got sent home after walking earlier in the inning.

  • St. Mary's got their first lead of the evening with a productive sixth inning. Dan Weeden gor things rolling for the Seahawks with a lead off double. Weeden would go on to advance to third after a ground out from Brian Sanders. Mitchell Fradkin got the Seahawks their second tally of the game with an RBI single that completed Weeden's trip around the base path. The next at bat, Garrett Pullium kept the momentum going with a single that advanced Fradkin to third. After Pullium advanced to second base on a wild pitch, Graham Wathen gave St. Mary's their first lead of the night with a 2 run RBI double to left field. The Seahawks led 4-3 going into the final three innings.

  • The Saints would knot the game up at four a piece in the bottom of the seventh. The Seahawks were able to get runners on base in the top of the eighth and ninth inning, but were unable to drive them home. Marymount would end up hitting a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to take the game, 5-4.
