Williamsport, PA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (6-9) traveled North to Pennsylvania to take on United East Conference Foe Penn College (12-9) in a Monday Doubleheader (Apr. 3). The Seahawks fell short in both games, falling 8-7 in game one and 13-7 in game two.

How It Happened (Game 1)

  • After a scoreless first inning, the Seahawks' bats woke up in the top of the second, scoring their first two runs of the game. With two men on and two outs, Dan Weeden sent a line drive to center field to allow George Berbakos to score from second. Adrian Auber kept the momentum going in his next at bat, hitting an RBI double to left field to extend the St. Mary's lead to two. The Wildcats would answer with a six run bottom of the second. The Seahawks would have to play catch up going into the middle innings.

  • St. Mary's would begin chipping away at the Penn College lead in the top of the fourth with the help of some Wildcat errors. Adrian Auber reached first base on an error from center field, which allowed two Seahawk runners to score from first and second for a couple unearned runs. Penn College would push the lead back to three a half inning later.

  • The Seahawks would pull back within one run going into the top of the seventh. Cole Tarleton sent a ball over the fence in the top of the fifth for a solo homer. The next inning, Chase O'Dell would come through by hitting an RBI single to center field to trim the Wildcat lead to just one. In the top of the seventh, with their backs against the wall, the Seahawks saw Ian Walters deliver the biggest play of the game when he hit an RBI triple to center field to allow George Berbakos to score from second base. Despite tying the game with zero outs, the Seahawks would see their offense come to a halt with the next three batters unable to reach base. Penn College would capitalize the next half inning with a walk off home run to take game one, 8-7.
