LATHAM, N.Y. – Sophomore
Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./North Point) earned her second straight United East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (April 1). This is Solomon's fourth career league player of the week award.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team continued United East action with two more league wins, shutting out Notre Dame of Maryland University (March 26), 7-0, and edging the defending conference champion, Penn State Harrisburg (March 29), 4-3.
Solomon won all four of her matches to help the team improve to 3-0 in league play. She teamed up with
Amber Manspeaker '25 for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles, taking down NDMU's
Morgan Lookingland and
Tam Truong, 6-1, before outlasting PSH's
Breanna DeSantis and
Allison Wootton, 7-5.
In No. 1 singles action, Solomon blanked Truong, 6-0, 6-0, before notching a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Wootton, the reigning United East Player and Rookie of the Year.
St. Mary's College (7-4, 3-0 UEC) will return to action today, Tuesday, April 1, when the Seahawks welcome Penn State Berks (2-4, 1-2 UEC) to the Somerset Tennis Courts for a conference match at 3 pm. This is the team's Gold Rush match.
