LATHAM, N.Y. – First-year
Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was named the United East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (Sept. 23). This is Ganjbaksh's first career league player of the week award.
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team opened their 2025-26 campaign with a tough 5-2 loss at The Catholic University of America (Sept. 13).
Ganjbaksh teamed up with
Sarah Levit '28 in a 6-1 loss to Catholic's
Annie Nemoy and
Shlaka Tambat at No. 1 doubles. Ganjbaksh then posted her first singles win as a Seahawk, taking down
Ella Knox 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
The Seahawks (0-1) will return to action this weekend, September 27-29, when SMCM travels to Fredericksburg, Va., to compete in the ITA Division III Women's Southeast Regional Championships on the campus of the University of Mary Washington.
