Spencer Named First United East Defensive Player of the Week for 2026

LATHAM, N.Y. – Sophomore Ty Spencer (Hanover, Md./Indian Creek) picked up the United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Feb. 16). This is Spencer's first career weekly conference award.
 
The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team opened the 2026 campaign with a 1-1 record following a 12-7 road win over Elizabethtown College (Feb. 10) and a 15-11 road loss to No. 14 University of Lynchburg (Feb. 14).
 
Spencer began the week with 11 saves and two ground balls in his first career start for his first career win at Elizabethtown. The 6-1 goalie then notched career-bests of 13 saves and six ground balls at Lynchburg.
 
He currently leads the conference with 24 saves and 12.00 saves per game while ranking third with a 12.38 goals against average and a .522 save percentage.
 
St. Mary's College (1-1) will be back in action this Friday, Feb. 20, when the Seahawks begin United East action by hosting Cairn University (0-0) at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium at 4 pm.
