LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior Joe Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) was selected as the United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Mar. 17). This is Szymanski's second career defensive player of the week award.
 
The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team posted a 1-1 record last week, falling 11-9 to Randolph-Macon College (Mar. 11) before rebounding with a 14-7 victory over SUNY Oneonta (Mar. 14).
 
Szymanski scooped up a season-best seven ground balls and caused three turnovers against Randolph-Macon. He then notched five ground balls, and one caused turnover in the win over Oneonta.
 
The 6-4 defenseman leads the United East with 19 caused turnovers while ranking fourth with 40 ground balls.
 
St. Mary's College (5-3) will be back in action Tuesday, Mar. 17, when the Seahawks host SUNY Geneseo (2-3) at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in non-conference action at 4 pm for St. Patrick's Day.
