LATHAM, N.Y. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team claimed both United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week awards as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Mar. 9).
 
Junior Gavin McKay (Urbana, Md./Urbana) was named the United East Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week while senior captain Adam Martin (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island) was selected as the United East Defensive Player of the Week.
 
St. Mary's College is coming off a 1-1 week which saw the Seahawks fall to The Catholic University of America (Mar. 4), 5-4, before rebounding with a 20-5 victory over SUNY Maritime College (Mar. 7).
 
McKay continues to fill the stat sheet with goals. The 6-0 attackman scored twice and had an assist plus one ground ball against Catholic. He followed that up with a career-best five goals and one ground ball in the win over Maritime College.
 
McKay currently leads the conference with 20 goals while tying for second with 26 points. He is also tied for sixth with six assists.
 
Martin put forth a breakout performance on defense. The 5-11 defenseman started off with career-highs of six ground balls and four caused turnovers in the loss to Catholic. He then led the defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls against Maritime College.
 
Martin currently ranks second in the league with 12 caused turnovers.
 
St. Mary's College (4-2) will be back in action Wednesday, Mar. 11, when the Seahawks host Randolph-Macon College (5-2) at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in non-conference action at 7 pm.
