McDonald Named United East Defensive Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior Caroline McDonald (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) was selected as the United East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for field hockey as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Sept. 14). This is McDonald's second career (and first in the United East) conference defensive player of the week award.
 
McDonald posted a 2.86 goals against average and a 0.821 save percentage over her first two starts of the season for the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team.
 
The 5-4 goalie collected a career-best 16 saves in a 2-0 loss at York College of Pennsylvania (Sept. 12), including eight stops during the third quarter. She then added seven stops with three goals allowed in 45 minutes of action in a 4-0 loss to No. 21 Washington & Lee University (Sept. 13).
 
St. Mary's College (1-3) will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 17, when the Seahawks welcome Randolph-Macon College (3-2) to the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium for a non-conference game at 5 pm.
