Brown Selected as United East Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – For the second straight week, sophomore Breanna Brown (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) has been named the United East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer as announced by the league office Monday afternoon (Sept. 14). This is Brown's second career conference defensive player of the week award.
 
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team posted a 0-1-2 record this past week behind Brown's 15 saves, 0.789 save percentage, and a 1.60 goals against average.
 
The 5-7 keeper made one save in a 1-1 draw with Stevenson University (Sept. 9) before starting the second half of a 1-1 draw with John Carroll University (Sept. 12), notching three saves and yielding one goal. She then collected a season-best 11 stops in a 2-0 loss to University of Lynchburg (Sept. 13).
 
Brown currently ranks second in the United East with a 1.00 goals against average and a 0.839 save percentage while tying for third with 24 saves.
 
St. Mary's College (1-2-3) will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 16, when the Seahawks welcome No. 12 University of Mary Washington (3-1-0) to the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium for a non-conference game at 5 pm.
