St. Mary's City, Md. - Sophomore attackman Dennis Rosson (Severna Park, Md./Severn) tallied four goals and an assist as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team snapped its two-game losing streak with a 12-7 non-conference win over The College of Wooster Saturday afternoon.

Attackmen Sam Burns (Potomac, Md./T.S. Wootton) and Michael Mules (Ellicott City, Md./Boys' Latin) contributed to the Seahawks' (2-3) offensive output as well with two goals apiece.

Wooster (3-2) struck first as senior attackman Mark Weschler (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) found the back of the net off an assist from freshman Nick Spittle (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) at 13:07.  The Seahawks then tallied three unanswered goals for a 3-1 advantage at 2:23.  The Fighting Scots cut their deficit to 3-2 at 2:07 following a goal by senior Tim Lee (Orion, Mich./Detroit Jesuit).

Scoring was even in the second quarter with both teams netting two goals each.  Back-to-back goals by sophomore middie Matt Pullara (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) gave Wooster a short-lived 4-3 lead before tallies by Rosson and Mules returned a 5-4 margin to the Seahawks at halftime.

The third period was 'The Rosson Show' as he tallied a hat trick, including two consecutive goals in a 1:16-minute span, to help St. Mary's sport a 9-5 lead at the end of three periods.

Weschler's second goal of the afternoon in the fourth stanza pulled the Fighting Scots to within three at 8:43.  However, the Seahawks scored three of the game's final four goals, including a pair by Burns, for the 12-7 final.

Pullara commanded the Wooster offense with four goals and an assist, while Weschler finished with two goals and Lee had a goal and an assist.

Senior Marc DiPasquale (Fallston, Md./Boys' Latin) dominated the face-offs with a 17-of-22 performance.  DiPasquale also helped the Seahawks post a 38-27 advantage in ground balls with a game-high 11.  St. Mary's fired off 37 shots to the Fighting Scots' 26.

Sophomore Pat Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) notched 10 saves and two ground balls in the win, while freshman Corey McGann (Granger, Ind./Penn) made six stops and scooped up four loose balls.

St. Mary's will return to action next Saturday, March 21 when the Seahawks face the Big Red of Denison University in non-conference action at noon at The Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland.
