Lynchburg, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team faced a tough road contest Wednesday evening. St. Mary's (3-4) dropped a 5-0 decision to regionally-ranked University of Lynchburg (6-1) for its second straight loss.

How It Happened

• The Hornets, who rank seventh in the South Atlantic region, outshot St. Mary's, 23-0, and posted a 4-1 margin in corner kicks for the game.
• Lynchburg owned a 3-0 advantage by the 33rd minute as the Hornets tallied the three scores in a span of 12 minutes.
• The Seahawks' lone corner came in the ninth minute.
• The Hornets added to their 3-0 halftime lead as Hannah Olds netted her second of the day at 53:04 and Caitlin Mertens completed the hat trick just two minutes later.

• Goalkeepers: Katie Flores (4 saves, 5 goals allowed, 64:05); Ellie Marts (3 saves, 0 goals allowed, 25:55)

For Lynchburg

• Scorers: Mertens (3 goals); Olds (2 goals); Kennedy Jakubek (2 assists); Madalyn Amos (1 assist)
• Goalkeepers: Delia LoSapio (0 saves, 0 goals allowed, 55:05); Laura Mason (0 saves, 0 goals allowed, 34:55)

Notes

• The Hornets are now 2-0 against St. Mary's. Last fall, Lynchburg earned a 3-2 win in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
